Honoring Our Elders: Concluding the Volunteer for Hope Elderly Care Project

The Volunteer for Hope Organization concluded its home care project for the elderly at Abu Dis University, implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development and funded by the Arab League. The project targeted elderly individuals in the areas of Al-Eizariya and Abu Dis. The closing ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including the Minister of Social Development, Dr. Ahmad Majdalani; the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League and Head of the Social Affairs Sector, Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh; Bishop Atallah Hanna; Deputy Governor of Jerusalem, Abdullah Sayam; and the Vice President of Al-Quds University, Dr. Hassan Dweik, along with local community representatives.
Dr. Dweik welcomed the Volunteer for Hope team, noting their significant efforts across various fields to enhance and improve the economic situation in Jerusalem Governorate. He emphasized the importance of this project for this segment of society and the need for collaborative efforts among all stakeholders.
Sylvia Abu Luban, Chair of the Volunteer for Hope Organization, highlighted key milestones of the project, which successfully provided home care for the elderly while addressing their economic and social needs. She pointed out that the organization will serve as a bridge connecting those in need with support, based on the principle of social responsibility. She concluded her speech by reaffirming that we owe our elders a debt of gratitude.
The Deputy Governor of Jerusalem reiterated his ongoing support for the organization’s pioneering role in serving this targeted group, noting their significance and pride in our existence.
Dr. Abu Ghazaleh praised the efforts of Minister of Social Development, Dr. Ahmad Majdalani, and the ministry’s team in overseeing the project’s success. She also expressed her gratitude to the Volunteer for Hope Organization for its continuous efforts in implementing the project, which has provided essential social protection services to numerous elderly individuals in Jerusalem, thereby enhancing their security and strengthening the resilience of the city’s residents.
Bishop Hanna emphasized during his speech the importance of Palestinian unity in confronting Israeli oppression, highlighting its crucial role in bolstering resilience and steadfastness on the ground. He also commended the project and the efforts of those involved.
