Volunteer for Hope Organization Organizes a Social Iftar for the Elderly
11May’23
On May 11, 2023, Volunteer for Hope
Organization organized a social iftar for the elderly in Jerusalem as part of
its Home Care for the Elderly project. This project is carried out in
collaboration with the Palestinian Ministry of Social Development and funded by
the Arab League. The event included a variety of recreational and medical
activities to ensure that participants gained the most benefit from their
gathering, aiming to foster social interaction among the elderly, enhance their
social connections, and contribute to improving their mental well-being.
Special attention was given to providing
a healthy and suitable meal for the elderly, and a location was chosen to
create a joyful and pleasant atmosphere. The elderly, who expressed their
interest in participating, were transported with the help of the Directorate of
Social Development in Jerusalem to “Al-Baba Park” in Al-Eizariya.
A total of 20 beneficiaries, along with
some of their family members, participated in the social iftar. The event was
also attended by several official figures, representatives from the Ministry of
Social Development, and the organization’s staff. During the meal, the elderly
were informed about the upcoming activities planned for them, and a series of
recreational activities was organized, including a group singing session
featuring traditional folk songs that catered to the interests and enjoyment of
the elderly women.
