Towards a Better Future: A Comprehensive Educational Project to Empower Students in Jerusalem, Supported by the Islamic Solidarity Fund
The “Towards a Better Future” project aims to support the resilience and educational advancement of students in Jerusalem through a diverse range of educational, recreational, and awareness workshops, along with volunteer initiatives across various fields. The project seeks to create a learning environment that encourages active participation and engagement by providing non-formal educational services and capacity-building activities. These initiatives contribute to preparing an educated generation capable of facing challenges and securing a bright and sustainable future for the Jerusalem community.
Targeted Group:
The project focuses on supporting school students of all ages and grade levels, from elementary through high school. It is based on a vision that values inclusive education, meeting the needs of all students regardless of their academic level, through a variety of programs and activities designed to enhance both academic and social skills.
Volunteer for Hope Academy:
As part of the “Towards a Better Future” project, “Volunteer for Hope Academy” was established in Beit Hanina, within the Jerusalem area, with a primary goal of helping students who experience learning difficulties. The academy works to improve students’ academic and personal skills by assessing their educational needs and providing tailored support programs. It also offers interactive workshops and activities that foster a supportive environment for academic success.
Extracurricular Activities at Volunteer for Hope Academy:
Olive Harvest Activity, “We Remain as Long as Thyme and Olives Endure”: This activity aims to educate students on the significance of the olive tree and its symbolic value in Palestinian heritage, strengthening the younger generation’s connection to the environment and cultural heritage.
Future Makers Camp, “Jerusalem Is Ours”: A camp designed to support youth in Jerusalem, fostering leadership and teamwork skills. The camp enhances community spirit and Jerusalem identity through interactive activities that focus on developing students’ mental capabilities.
Dabke Dance, “We Remain Like the Olive Tree”: This cultural activity teaches students traditional dabke dance, reinforcing their cultural identity and encouraging teamwork and connection to Palestinian heritage.
Karate Classes: These classes introduce students to martial arts, improving their physical fitness and self-confidence while instilling discipline.
Scouting Program: A 45-hour program aimed at developing leadership and teamwork skills, including activities like first aid and camping, to prepare students as future leaders in their community.
Educational Activities at Volunteer for Hope Academy:
Tutoring Sessions: Daily tutoring is provided for all students across various subjects, from first grade to high school, ensuring they receive the necessary academic support.
Hebrew Language Course: This course enhances students’ Hebrew skills, facilitating their interaction with the surrounding environment and providing practical skills for daily life.
Arabic Calligraphy Course: Aimed at teaching the fundamentals and techniques of beautiful Arabic script, this course promotes cultural identity and develops students’ creative writing abilities.
“Jerusalem’s Next Generation” Workshop: In collaboration with Film Lab Palestine, this film-making workshop aims to equip students with storytelling skills, enabling them to share the Palestinian narrative through film and develop a generation capable of expressing its cause creatively.
The “Towards a Better Future” project embodies an ambitious vision to support students in Jerusalem, equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to become influential, self-reliant individuals ready to build their future and contribute to their community with confidence and resilience.
