Empowering Jerusalemite Women Entrepreneurs Project
01Feb’22
The “Empowering Jerusalemite Women Entrepreneurs” project is part of the organization efforts to enhance the role of women entrepreneurs in Jerusalem, in close cooperation with the Palestinian National Foundation for Economic Empowerment. The project aims to support Jerusalemite women entrepreneurs by providing specialized training courses in areas such as project management and other essential skills for managing and sustaining small businesses. It also includes financial support for small businesses and individual initiatives by providing necessary equipment and materials, enabling them to effectively and sustainably develop their projects through these interventions.
The significance of this project lies in empowering Jerusalemite women and strengthening their economic role within their families and communities, thus enhancing and activating their social and legal roles and their positions as decision-makers within the Jerusalem community. This empowerment goes beyond economic assistance; it forms a foundation for women’s broader empowerment, equipping them to play a critical role in social, intellectual, and legal cohesion. It contributes to maintaining strong families that can protect themselves from social and familial challenges. Additionally, empowering women to make sound decisions about their futures and the futures of their families begins with selecting innovative economic projects capable of generating adequate income and preserving the Palestinian Arab identity and heritage in Jerusalem.
Project Duration:
The project spans 13 months, from February 2022 to February 2023, and aims to support 30 Jerusalemite women entrepreneurs in their business ventures by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge for success and sustainability. In addition, the project provides financial assistance by supplying essential equipment and tools for the growth and success of these businesses. Moreover, the project will contribute to creating new job opportunities by supporting the sustainability and success of these enterprises.
Program Implementation Phases:
1.Targeting and Selection:
To reach women with businesses in need of support, awareness workshops will be held in targeted communities through local institutions and CBOs. The application process will open in person, allowing women to apply for the grant. Subsequently, a thorough process will begin, involving application analysis, interviews, and field visits, to identify the selected beneficiaries.
2.Capacity-Building Phase:
The capacity-building phase is essential for ensuring the success and sustainability of small projects, which heavily rely on the entrepreneur as a primary leader and human factor. The training aims to empower entrepreneurs with managerial, financial, legal, sales, and marketing skills, along with other skills critical to managing small and micro projects.
3.Grant Provision Phase:
This phase includes financial support for the entrepreneurs by supplying necessary equipment, devices, and tools to enhance their projects. The required materials and equipment are identified through a detailed analysis of each project, conducted in partnership with the entrepreneurs.
4.Evaluation and Follow-Up Phase:
During the evaluation and follow-up phase, small projects are monitored through periodic assessments covering financial and technical progress. Data is collected through surveys and interviews to gauge the impact of the training and support provided. The evaluation results are used to adjust strategies and offer additional support as needed, contributing to improved performance and ensuring positive and sustainable outcomes.
